Planning Connections: Recommended Environmental Objectives for the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan
by Sarah Elmeligi, Senior Conservation Planner, CPAWS Southern Alberta Chapter.
Planning Connections is designed to provide to the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) with recommendations regarding conservation priorities and management actions for the South Saskatchewan Region. CPAWS SA acknowledges that the Land-use Framework and ALSA are positioned to address some key issues surrounding current land-use challenges facing Alberta and we welcome the opportunity to present our recommendations to the RAC regarding action for the South Saskatchewan Region.
Although there are many diverse pressures and threats facing the South Saskatchewan region, many of them can be addressed by increasing the extent of Southern Alberta’s protected areas in an interconnected manner. CPAWS SA encourages the RAC to prioritize the ecological integrity of the South Saskatchewan Region.
