2008 Phil Lulman Volunteer Award Winner
Peter Zimmerman
The 2008 recipient of the Phil Lulman Volunteer Award is Peter Zimmerman.
Peter has worn many hats for wilderness conservation. He was a Calgary/Banff Chapter Director for six years, taking on the role of Chair of the Board when Phil Lulman stepped down in 2004. While a Chapter Director, Peter also served for a time as our Chapter Representative then a National Board Trustee serving on various National committees, including the conservation committee when we forged our first truly national vision and strategic plan.
Peter was also instrumental in the development, funding and promotion of the highly successful and curricula sensitive Grizzly Bears Forever program.
Peter has represented CPAWS as an advocate, ambassador and champion on the Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada, the Eastern Slopes Grizzly Bear Project and the Alberta Grizzly Bear Recovery Team.
Peter also acted on behalf of CPAWS in presenting an excellent ecosystem-based access management proposal for the Ghost/Waiparous area to the Provincial government in 2001.
As you can see, Peter is truly a donor of his time, expertise and most of all wisdom, always trying to do the right thing for CPAWS and conservation in Alberta.
Congratulations, Peter!
